Black Panther Party

The Black Panther Party's iconic leather jackets and black berets are more than meets the eye; and their approach to style and dress is deeply intertwined with their ideas of liberation. The Panthers have a lot to teach us about solidarity, community care and revolution, and studying their uniform is an intimate window into their world, beliefs and goals. This zine works as supplemental material to any social studies curriculum on the Panthers or Black liberation movements of the 1960s and 70s, but it can also stand on its own, as a self-guided read and reflection.
